Location
Could hardly be in a more scenic location. The Boardwalk is just a stone’s throw from the famous Falkirk Wheel. Very handy if you are checking out the attraction. And just an hour away from Glasgow and Edinburgh.
First impressions
There is, as the name suggests, a distinct nautical feel, from the old fisherman’s crates filled with shells and boats outside used as pots for flowers, to the driftwood art on the walls. The plush interior decor, including crushed velvet chairs, electric fireplaces and a beautiful blossom tree in the middle of the dining room, add an air of luxury.
Service
A smiling waitress takes our order and helpfully suggests a nice glass of wine. The food arrives promptly and piping hot.
Menu
The menu is quite extensive. From snacks, salads, sandwiches and seafood dishes, to pasta, and home comforts such as beef stroganoff and steak and sausage pie, as well as a carvery seven days a week, you’ll find yourself spoiled for choice.
Taste
We plumped for the melon starter, which was lovely and juicy followed by fish and chips and chicken fajitas. The fish hit all the right spots and the fajitas were sizzling, tasty and plentiful. The kids’ portions of macaroni cheese were enormous. We thankfully still had room for dessert – because the cakes cabinet is to die for. The strawberry tarts are big enough for two but we somehow squeezed in a meringue as well. Worth making the trip just for the dessert trolley.
Ambience
The panoramic windows bring the outside in, making it a relaxing dining experience with a view. And the opulent décor adds to the experience.
Price
Our bill came to around £80 for two adults and two children.
