BSC Glasgow’s shock troops had to haul themselves out of their sick beds to secure the best result in the club’s short history.

Manager Stephen Swift revealed that a sickness bug had swept through the Lowland League side’s dressing-room, making the manner of their 4-3 win all the more incredible.

East Fife appeared to be cruising at 3-1 up before being pegged back and overhauled by Swift’s men.

“It’s some result for us, the best in our history,” said the BSC boss.

“Overall, we deserved our victory, although we had to do it the hard way.

“The boys were terrific. “We actually had a bug during the week and about five or six of us were really ill.

“For us to pull through made it even better.”

The visitors settled into the game really well and were ahead within five minutes.

East Fife shot themselves in the foot by giving away possession inside their own half and were punished by Thomas Orr, who scampered in on Jordan Hart’s goal, rounded the keeper and netted.

East Fife managed to pull themselves level shortly after the quarter-of-an-hour mark.

In their first meaningful attack, Pat Slattery’s near-post cross was met by Anton Dowds and he finished well from close range.

The game became a bit of a slugfest in the middle of the park and short on real quality.

East Fife’s second goal of the game summed things up, Liam Watt’s corner catching in the wind and managing to find its way over the line.

Craig Watson looked to have gone some way to settling the nerves after 53 minutes when he turned home Watt’s free-kick.

But BSC weren’t done and pulled one back when Michael Anderson’s delivery was slammed home by Thomas Collins.

The comeback was

complete when Declan Hughes netted from the spot after Chris Higgins had tripped Collins.

A remarkable cup-tie was capped in time added when BSC wrapped up the win, Orr rifling home from close range.

East Fife boss Darren Young said: “That was horrendous and we need to apologise to the fans and board for the performance.

“No matter what level you’re playing at, if you give away four goals you’re in trouble.”
