My son is really into basketball, and his room is covered in pics of his favourite players and teams, including Utah Jazz. What does Utah have to do with jazz? – M.

Utah is most famous as the home of the Mormon Church, based in the state capital of Salt Lake City.

However, since 1979, it has also been home to the Utah Jazz basketball team – who moved there from New Orleans, where they acquired their apt name.

Reading a fairytale to my granddaughter, she stunned me by asking what the difference between a frog and a toad was? – T.

They are both amphibians and only differ in a few ways.

Frogs tend to have moist, slimy skin and spend most of the time in or near water.

Toads are more likely to have dry skin and leave water more often.

Frogs lay eggs in a mass, toads in a chain.

Please prove me right. I’m sure I remember that there was a cartoon series starring that great comedy double act Abbott and Costello. – S.

You are half correct in that there was indeed a series, The Abbott & Costello Cartoon Show, made in 1967-68.

Bud Abbott was the voice of his own cartoon character in the 39 episodes but sadly his partner, Lou Costello, had died in 1959, so his character was voiced by actor Stan Irwin.

I wonder if the remoteness of the Falklands Islands has had any effect on its wildlife. Are there any mammals native to the Falklands? - R.

There was only one, the warrah, also know as the Falklands Islands dog or Antarctic wolf.

Sadly, it became extinct in the late 19th Century.

However, the islands have several native bird species, such as the Falkland steamer duck.
