Leeds see off Town to make it six in a row

-

Leeds climbed to the top of the table with a battling 2-0 West Yorkshire derby victory over Huddersfield.

Second-half goals from Ezgjan Alioski and Pablo Hernandez did the damage as the visitors stretched their impressive unbeaten run to nine games to leapfrog West Brom at the summit. The victory was also Leeds’ sixth win in a row.

George Saville’s first-minute strike proved sufficient to earn Middlesbrough a deserved 1-0 win over Charlton.

A dramatic late winner by George Moncur helped Luton stage an incredible fightback to defeat fellow relegation strugglers Wigan 2-1 at Kenilworth Road.

With the game entering stoppage time and Town having only just restored parity through substitute Callum McManaman’s goal, fellow replacement Moncur converted from close range.

It had looked like Wigan would pick up a first away victory this term after leading through Kieffer Moore.

Ebere Eze scored both goals in a 2-0 victory for QPR over Preston, who suffered a fourth straight defeat.

Blackburn continued their march up the table with a 1-0 victory over Derby thanks to Adam Armstrong’s strike.

Two second-half goals from Steven Fletcher gave Sheffield Wednesday a 2-1 victory over Brentford at Hillsborough.

The Owls’ top scorer completed a comeback victory after Bryan Mbuemo opened the scoring in the first half.

Cardiff midfielder Lee Tomlin scored a 95th-minute volley to earn a dramatic 3-2 victory over Barnsley.

The Bluebirds came from behind twice to eventually make it three wins in a row under new manager Neil Harris.

Jarrod Bowen scored twice in the second half as Hull came from behind to win 2-1 at home to Stoke, who led 1-0 at the break through Sam Vokes.

Bristol City moved level on points with third-placed opponents Fulham thanks to a 2-1 win at Craven Cottage.

Robins captain Josh Brownhill opened the scoring and Famara Diedhiou added a second, with Aboubakar Kamara reducing the arrears late on.

Birmingham ended a five-match winless run with a 3-2 victory at Reading.

Birmingham went ahead when Michael Morrison scored an own goal, but Yakou Meite soon equalised.

Goals from Jeremie Bela and Alvaro Gimenez then gave the Blues a two-goal cushion, with Lucas Joao reducing the gap deep into stoppage time.
