Boro see red as Woodgate’s woes continue

-

Middlesbrough remain in big trouble as Andre Ayew’s brace and a Sam Surridge strike guided Swansea to a 3-1 home victory, with Marcus Browne and Paddy McNair both getting sent off for Boro.

Leeds threw away a three-goal lead as they were held to a 3-3 draw against Cardiff at Elland Road.

Helder Costa and Patrick Bamford scored within the first eight minutes, and Bamford converted a penalty to make it 3-0 early in the second half.

But Lee Tomlin, Sean Morrison and then Robert Glatzel – just after Morrison was sent off – found the net for Cardiff to ensure honours ended even.

Jayden Stockley came off the bench to score the winner for Preston in a 2-1 victory over Luton at Deepdale.

Paul Gallagher had handed the Lancashire side an early advantage, with James Collins levelling from the spot.

A Conor Chaplin hat-trick helped Barnsley beat QPR 5-3 to record only their third victory of the season.

Chaplin scored in the seventh, 18th and 52nd minutes, with Cauley Woodrow’s penalty and Bambo Diaby’s late fifth wrapping up the win at Oakwell.

Luke Amos scored a brace for QPR, with Ilias Chair adding a stoppage-time consolation.

Bradley Johnson’s second-minute goal helped Blackburn extend their unbeaten run to seven games with a 2-0 win at Bristol City, with Adam Armstrong scoring the second late on.

Wigan and Huddersfield drew 1-1 at the DW Stadium.

Josh Windass put second-bottom Athletic ahead, before Karlan Grant levelled with his 12th goal of the season.

Gary Rowett made a winning return to Pride Park as Tom Bradshaw’s strike earned Millwall a 1-0 win over Derby.

Brentford moved into the playoff places with a 1-0 win over west London rivals Fulham that was far more emphatic than the scoreline suggested.

Bryan Mbeumo’s blistering volley midway through the first half was enough to leapfrog the Cottagers and lift the Bees to fourth in the table.

Jordan Rhodes netted a hat-trick as Sheffield Wednesday maintained their impressive record against Nottingham Forest with a 4-0 win at the City Ground, with Steven Fletcher also getting his name on the scoresheet.

Disappointed Stoke boss Michael O’Neill was frustrated his side failed to break down Reading in a goalless draw at the Bet365 Stadium.
