Off A85 Perth–Methven and Crieff road from A9 and ring road at Huntingtower. Through village, second farm on right: a family (the Nivens’) farm shop (it all started with a freerange egg) with ducks on the pond and rarebreed pigs – excellent fresh produce and, inside, a deli and bustling café.

Ardross Farm
Between St Monans and Elie on the A917 Fife coastal route. East Neuk farm shop, an all-round highly selective provisioner of farm produce, including grass-fed, 21-day hung beef, their own lamb, top venison and a vast
array of seasonal dug vegetables (over 50 varieties, with 7 types of hand-sown potatoes) pies and ready-made meals. The Pollock family have been here over a century and are big supporters of UK farm produce. ardrossfarm.co.uk 01333 331400
Kilnford Barns Farm Shop
Edge of town on a roundabout of the A75 heading to Stranraer. Built around a farm, known for its Beltie (the Belted Galloway) beef, but also pigs, this is a major farm shop emporium (especially meats) and café. The Woodhouse
New-build contemporary farm shop/deli and airy café, with outside terrace on the Lamb family farm, on the A811 Stirling to Loch Lomond road at the first (Stirling-side) crossroads to Kippen and Thornhill. Big on sustainables. Cheese counter and Kippen butchers, local bread. The caff with salads, tortes and a roast of the day.
