Montrose picked up three points with a single-goal victory over Airdrieonians.

The goal came on 25 minutes. A high ball from Paul Watson was dropped by keeper Scott Gallacher, who then fouled Cammy F Ballantyne as he tried to regain possession. Graham Webster drilled the ball home from the spot.

Two minutes later, Lewis Milne drove over, then a shot on the turn from Russell McLean was tipped over at full stretch by Gallacher.

In 57 minutes, McLean got the better of Sean Crighton on the right, but his lob drifted across the face of the goal.

The Diamonds kept battling and Nat Wedderburn drove over from 25 yards.

Montrose had the ball in the net in 66 minutes, but the referee decided McLean had fouled Gallacher, The keeper went off with a facial injury and was replaced by David Hutton.

Airdrie pressed in the closing stages and Alan Fleming saved at the feet of Andrew Ryan.

Four minutes from time, Kyle MacDonald blazed over from good position.

ClYDe 3 FalKIrK 2 Clyde – Lamont (3) Goodwillie (pen 43, 53); Falkirk – Telfer (pen 45), Longridge (90)

Clyde caught their visitors cold when Mark Lamont pounced on a loose ball 16 yards out and arrowed a shot into the corner.

Keeper Robbie Mutch prevented further damage soon after with a good save from Chris McStay’s shot.

Falkirk responded through an Aidan Connolly volley, which dipped just over the bar, and a 20-yard shot from Charlie Telfer, which was saved by David Mitchell.

Despite a spell of Falkirk pressure, Clyde looked just as likely to score again and Lamont was only denied a second by Mutch’s diving save.

The Bairns keeper, though, was beaten again when he upended David Goodwillie, who dusted himself down before slotting the resulting penalty.

But Falkirk had a lifeline on the stroke of half-time when Tom

Lang scythed David McMillan in the box and Telfer converted the spot-kick.

Goodwillie then restored Clyde’s two-goal cushion with a closerange finish.

Falkirk attacked for the remainder of the match, but Louis Longridge’s last-minute strike was scant consolation.

DuMBartoN 1 raItH 0 Carswell (90+3)

John Baird forced Sons keeper Conor Brennan into an early save with a header at the back post from a corner, while Robert Jones and Stefan McCluskey missed chances for Dumbarton.

PJ Crossan was unlucky with an early second-half shot for Sons which flashed wide, before Baird had a goal disallowed for offside.

After a Ross Forbes effort for Dumbarton was deflected past, the game looked set to meander to a goalless conclusion before skipper Stuart Carswell made himself the hero.

His powerful drive in time added from the edge of the area, after a corner was only half cleared by Raith, was destined for the net as soon as it left his boot.

ForFar 0 east FIFe 1 Denholm (1)

East Fife had the best start possible when they took the lead within 40 seconds of kick-off.

A corner won within seconds of the start was whipped into the sixyard box and former Forfar hero Danny Denholm was perfectly placed to stab the ball over the line from only a foot out.

Forfar were denied an equaliser in the 37th minute when Mark McKenzie thundered a shot off the bar, but Callum Morrison was only inches away from stretching the visitor’s lead just before the interval with a shot on the turn that flew just over the bar.

East Fife again went close to doubling their advantage at the start of the second half when a shot from Ryan Wallace after a quick break away needed a strong hand from keeper McCallum.

The Fifers had another chance in the 73rd minute when Anton Dowds raced through after a mix-up in the Loons’ defence, but McCallum ran out to block.

It took another fingertip save from McCallum a minute into stoppage-time to deny Anton Dowds a second East Fife.
