Wolves won the English League Cup Final with a 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest.

Andy Gray (above) headed the winner for John Barnwell’s side.

Celtic had a seven-point lead at the top of the Premier Division, despite drawing 1-1 with Kilmarnock.

Bobby Street put Killie ahead within 60 seconds, with Bobby Lennox equalising four minutes from full-time.

50 YEARS AGO

Celtic beat Dundee 2-1 in the Scottish Cup semis at Hampden,with goals from Lou Macari and Bobby Lennox.

Their opponents in the Final would be Aberdeen after the Dons beat Kilmarnock 1-0, thanks to a Derek McKay strike at Muirton Park.

Peter McCloy (above) made his debut in goal for Rangers in a 2-1 defeat at Dunfermlin­e.

Chelsea scored four second-half goals to beat Watford 5-1 in the FA Cup semi-final. The other semi between Leeds United and Manchester United was goalless.

60 YEARS AGO

Rangers, Celtic, Clyde and Kilmarnock made it through to the Scottish Cup semis.

A goal from Jimmy Millar gave Rangers a 3-2 win over Hibs, preventing the Ibrox men having a Monday replay two days before playing Sparta Rotterdam.
