Paloma: I almost died in birth of daughter

-

Pop star Paloma Faith has revealed childbirth nearly killed her. The mother-ofone suffered a premature membrane rupture when her daughter was born in 2016.

The 38-year-old said: “When I had her I was in shock. I nearly died in childbirth and

I was scared.”

The singer has joined The Voice Kids as a coach, having previously had a spinning red chair on The Voice UK in 2016.

And she said she prefers the kids’ version of the singing show.

Paloma said: “I prefer the kids’ version. It’s so uplifting and you genuinely feel like you’re helping them.

“You see with your own eyes how growing up and becoming an adult gives us inhibition and self-doubt.

“We all, at some point when we were kids, had a sort of purity and so our talents could really shine. I look back at me dancing when I was a kid and I was so good, then I trained and I was rubbish.

“We grow up and people beat us around with their own issues whereas these kids come in with pure talent that knocks the spots off any of us coaches.”

The singer also revealed she once wanted to be a teacher before she found fame .

She said: “My mum was a teacher at primary school and reception, and I used to volunteer for years.”
