Strangers burn rebel town flag and replace with the Union Jack

-

“An amazing incident took place at Thaxted Church this afternoon about 4.30pm,” read the story.

“About 10 strangers entered into the town of Thaxted and immediately proceeded to procure two long ladders, which they carried towards the church.”

Thaxted is known for The Peasants’ Revolt, where people rebelled against high taxes and economic deprivation in 1381.

“Eventually the ladders were put in position, the rebel flags removed from the church, and a

Union Jack placed in their stead. After the ladders were removed the demonstrators publicly burned the red flag, to cheers, and they sang the national anthem.”
