-

Wolves wing-back Jonny is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines after suffering a serious knee injury.

The Spaniard damaged his anterior cruciate ligament in Thursday’s 1-0 Europa League win over Olympiacos and will need surgery to repair the problem.

Wolves doctor Matt Perry told the club’s official website: “In the first half of the match with Olympiacos, Jonny suffered an injury to his right knee.

“On Friday a scan confirmed the first clinical impression of an injury to the anterior cruciate ligament which will require surgical repair.

“This has been arranged and the whole team wish Jonny well on his path to recovery.”

It is a major blow to the Premier League side ahead of Tuesday’s Europa League quarter-final against Sevilla in Germany, with youngster Lewis Richards joining the squad.

Belgian forward Julien Ngoy has left Stoke to join Eupen in his homeland.

The 22-year-old Under-21 international made seven first-team appearances for the Potters across a four-year spell at the Bet365 Stadium.

Northampton have signed defender Joseph Mills following his departure from Forest Green.

Thirty-year-old Mills, who turned down the offer of a new deal at Forest Green, has agreed a two-year contract with the Cobblers, who will play in League One next season.

Northampton boss Keith Curle told the club’s official website: “He has a lot of experience and is a typical wing-back, he is very good defensively but he loves to get forward too.

“He is a real leader, he captained his former club and is a character who will fit in well in the dressing room.”

Mills made 70 appearances in all competitions for Forest Green, scoring 12 goals, after joining them in 2018.

He started out at Southampton and had spells at Reading, Burnley and Oldham before spending two years in Australia with Perth Glory.

Harrogate have celebrated promotion to the English Football League for the first time in their 106year history with an open-top bus parade.

Town will begin life as a Sky Bet League Two club next season after beating Notts County at Wembley last weekend in the National League play-off final.

The North Yorkshire club’s players and management team set off through the town centre streets on Saturday lunch-time and were given a rousing reception.

Harrogate must launch their first season in the Football League at Doncaster’s Keepmoat Stadium as work continues on upgrading their ground.

Town began ripping up their artificial 3G playing surface at the CNG Stadium on Tuesday in preparation for a new grass pitch in order to comply with EFL rules.

A new all-seater stand to bring the stadium’s capacity up to 5,000 is close to completion and the floodlights are also being upgraded.

The work will not be completed until October and the new League Two season is scheduled to start on September 12.
