Barisic’s focus is on the title, not a move elsewhere

Borna Barisic is refusing to contemplate a move away from Rangers. His outstanding early-season form has seen a number of clubs take a close look at the 27-year-old. Leeds United are said to be keen to add the full-back to their squad. A move to the Premier League would undoubtedly prove lucrative for the left-back, but he immediately dismisses the thought. He said: “I don’t want to talk about transfers, or things like that. The most important thing is where I am now, and that is Rangers. “We know how big this season is for us. “I don’t want to think about transfers because when you think about things like that, it is normal that you then lose your focus. “We have started very well, and that is the most important thing.” One man who isn’t going anywhere is Barisic’s fellow countryman, Nikola Katic. The defender sustained a nasty knee injury in pre-season training and is facing several months on the sidelines. Having another Croat at the club will be comfort to the 23-year-old. Barisic said: “I am with him every day, not only at the training ground but after training too. “He is very strong mentally. He trains very hard every day, and is very positive. “I support him a lot because at the start he needed it. But after the first couple of days he came to terms with it. He will be fine.” Barisic believes the best is yet to come form this Rangers team. Steven Gerrard’s men had a successful pre-season and have a 100% record in the Premiership. Games like today’s at Livingston, however, are a real test of character. But Barasic doesn’t hesitate when asked if this is the best Rangers team he’s been part of since arriving in Scotland two years ago. He said: “Yes. We are at the start of the season and I am sure that this is not us at 100%. This is normal. “We didn’t play for four months. “But it is very important to start like we have started, and we want to keep it going. “All the team knows what we are trying to do this year, and you can see that we are playing very well.”
