I am just so glad I arranged my Power of Attorney before coronavirus outbreak

- John Kelly, Bishopbriggs

For retired steel erector John Kelly, 78, and his wife Sarah, coronavirus brought a lot of worry.

“It’s been a nightmare,” John said. “I’ve been isolating for the past 19 weeks due to my age and health and so has my wife, so it’s been very stressful. We’ve also had to cancel our annual holiday and a wedding we were due to attend in June was called off too.”

Thankfully nobody close to John succumbed to the virus but not being able to go out and see family members brought with it a lot of negative feelings and worry. However, one thing the couple didn’t need to worry about was making sure that their legal arrangements were in place.

John and Sarah worked updated their Wills and created Power of Attorney and Property Protection Trust documents with ILAWS last year. And it’s brought them (and their loved ones) peace of mind during the pandemic.

John said: “We worked with ILAWS for exactly a situation like this – an unexpected issue that arises – and it’s taken a lot of stress off us at this time.

“If we’d been starting from square one we would have struggled as many businesses, such as banks, haven’t been open to pass on the documents.”

It meant that no matter what else happened during the outbreak, John and his family knew that this was taken care of should anything bad happen. And John would highly recommend ILAWS to anyone looking to create or update their own Wills, Powers of Attorney or Property Protection Trusts.

He added: “Without a doubt ILAWS were fantastic – they couldn’t do enough for us and it was an ideal situation. The guy from ILAWS came out to our house, we sat him down, and he spoke about everything before he wrote anything down. I didn’t really understand it all, but he explained it in a language that we could understand. I’d recommend ILAWS.”

“I’d say go ahead, look into this and to make sure it is all done properly, I would recommend ILAWS.”
