Czech keeper in bombshell leak over the Kamara slur

The fallout from Thursday’s Europa League tie at Ibrox rumbles on and on

Slavia Prague keeper, Premysl Kovar, has appeared to confirm that his team-mate, Ondrej Kudela, was guilty of a racist slur at Ibrox last Thursday night.

Rangers midfielder, Glen Kamara, has alleged that Kudela called him a “f ****** monkey” towards the end of the Europa League tie.

Ibrox ace Kamara has demanded UEFA throw the book at the Czech international defender after the powderkeg incident.

Slavia Prague, and Kudela himself, have strenuously denied the racist allegations, and the Czech club want to proceed with filing a criminal complaint.

But a sensational voice recording, left by Slavia back-up keeper Kovar – one of two keepers on the bench at Ibrox for the visitors – may blow their claim out of the water.

In the recording, which was released on Czech social media, Kovar said: “We were kept on the field for an hour because of ‘Kudy.’

“He told the man he was a f ****** monkey.”

After the recording was released, the goalkeeper went to great lengths to deny he had confirmed his team-mate used the racist abuse.

In a later statement, he said: “I made the recording about an hour-and-aquarter after the match.

“I found it absolutely incredible how Rangers treated us after the match.

“The only reason for the incredible situation, including the physical assault of my friend Ondrej Kudela, is the alleged claim of the player, Glen Kamara, that Kudela used the term that he’s claimed.

“I didn’t hear that from Ondrej personally, and later on he denied it completely, and I believe him.

“Those words are just false accusations on the part of the player.

“So my recording was only to describe the incredible situation.”

Slavia Prague were also forced to deny their own player had confirmed Kudela’s alleged racist abuse.

General secretary Michal Bycek said: “Premysl Kovar accurately described the situation on the pitch after the end of the match, and the phrase that was alleged.

“The recording and its context preclude any other interpretation.”
