A welcome to autumn, cool coats and a spooky cover star

- EDITOR, JAYNE SAVVA JSAVVA@DCTMEDIA.CO.UK

Imust admit I am ready to embrace autumn. Maybe it’s the fact we had such a lovely, warm summer; I’ve had my fill of warm days and I’m ready to welcome our cosiest season with a big bear hug.

It’s a time for crunching through orange and gold leaves, throwing an extra cosy layer on the bed and putting the heating on without feeling guilty.

As the birds prepare to fly south, Tellyland is coming out of hibernation. The schedules are packed with brand-new dramas, Strictly is back and this week The Great British Bake Off returns to soothe our weary souls. Judges Paul and Prue have the greatest job in the world – imagine getting to eat cake for a living? – and on page 20, they tell us that this year’s batch of bakers are the best the show has seen.

Autumn heralds the beginning of coat-hunting season too. I take this pursuit very seriously and can easily spend an entire day trying to track down the perfect specimen.Various friends and family have joined me in this annual expedition over the years but they rarely last the pace (even my own mother has vowed “never again”).

If you’re not a fan of trudging round the shops, P.S.’s trusted style expert Wendy Rigg is here to help. On pages 8 and 9, she has selected the best coats from the high street.

It won’t be long till the Halloween decorations hit the supermarkets and we’re celebrating early with this week’s cover star, Most Haunted’s Yvette Fielding.Turn to pages 6 and 7 to find out how the cult show changed her life – and helped her son find love. For someone so into ghosts, she really does have a wonderful zest for life.

We hope you enjoy the issue!
