Glenalmond’s extraordinary education

-

Located in one of the most beautiful places in the world, Glenalmond College is an award-winning school that offers a truly extraordinary place to learn.

Just an hour from Edinburgh and Glasgow, boys and girls aged 12-18 thrive in Glenalmond’s unpolluted 300-acre grounds, which offer endless opportunities for activities, fun and friendship.

Most of Glenalmond’s teachers live on site and this is a very important factor in the support each individual pupil receives in this bustling community, where teamwork and leadership skills flourish alongside academic subjects, sport, music, drama and art.

The school offers full and flexi boarding in its seven boarding houses and day pupils also have a room in a house. With only about 360 pupils – an equal split of boys and girls – every child is individually known and class sizes are reassuringly small; this is enhanced by an excellent house-based tutor system.

First-class facilities abound – including an Olympic-standard, water-based hockey astro and a nine-hole James Braid-designed golf course, along with a brand-new indoor golf hub.

Glenalmond was this month named one of the UK’s top schools in the Tatler School Guide 2022. Glenalmond recently won the “Best Academic Boarding School – Scotland” award in the LuxLife Private Education Awards and 89% of its 2021 leavers secured their first-choice university. The school also has its own theatre

and an outstanding music, drama and art offer. It is a finalist in the Performing Arts category of the Independent School of the Year Awards 2021 and has just been named as one of Talk Education’s top 250 schools, one of only three senior schools in Scotland to achieve this.

What really sets Glenalmond apart – after the unforgettable moment you catch the first glimpse of the school buildings on the drive down Front Avenue – is the sense of warmth and friendliness visitors feel when they arrive and are welcomed by staff and pupils.

Our daughter is truly thriving at Glenalmond. While there are endless extracurricular opportunities, academic teaching remains at the core of this exceptional school. – Glenalmond parent, 2021
