Location
Tucked away from Stockbridge’s main thoroughfare, Grams has good bus links but only limited parking. If you’re coming from the city centre, it’s a 20-minute walk from Waverley.
First impressions
The decor at this cool eatery can only be described as “Instagram friendly”. The walls are millennial pink (yes, it’s a real shade) and neon lights hang from the ceiling for a minimalist vibe.
Service
The staff couldn’t be faulted. Friendly and attentive, our hot drinks arrived promptly and the food (piping hot) not long after.
Menu
The Grams motto is “eat better, not less” so the menu is filled with the likes of acai smoothie bowls, pancakes made with whey protein and a healthier version of beans on toast. It’s a fantastic place for those with dietary requirements as every dish is clearly marked with allergens, and there’s options for both vegan and gluten-free diners.
Taste
Our party of four (two vegans, one gluten-free) opted for the big breakfast, two plant-based breakfasts – a hearty fry-up that won’t clog your arteries – and clean beans with poached eggs. There’s no skimping on portion sizes at Grams, that’s for sure! Our dishes were delicious, but we all regretted not ordering the pancakes as we were all quite envious watching the next table squeeze a syringe of strawberry sauce on their stack.
Ambience
Overall, friendly and fun, but the music was a little too loud, so it was hard to chat.
Value
Four meals, seven coffees (it was that kind of morning) and a takeaway cake came to just over £70. Very reasonable.
