RAITH ROVERS 3 MacDonald (4 og), Ross (33, 45)

Raith Rovers boss John McGlynn has urged his players to keep the hard work coming after the Kirkcaldy side enjoyed their 10th game unbeaten against struggling Hamilton.

The victory leaves them just three points behind league leaders Kilmarnock.

It was a different story for Accies, who have won just three league games this season.

They are now just three points off of Dunfermline, who were boosted by their first league win of the campaign under new manager John Hughes.

Raith got off to a solid start when Kieran MacDonald put the ball into his own net before Ethan Ross added a double before the break.

Accies never looked likely of mustering a response.

Mihai Popescu powered over and a weak header from Andy Ryan failed to find the Killie net

McGlynn said: “It is our first clean sheet in 10 games and we are also unbeaten now in 10 games – nine in the league and in the challenge Cup – so I am delighted with our run, our consistency and our clean sheet.

“But a week is a long time in football.

“We could get beat by Morton next week and ruin all that.

“What we have to do is strive to continue that for as long as we possible can.”

McGlynn continued: “The momentum and confidence is there but we cannot take anything for granted and you have to respect the league. We want to be up there.

“In any of these leagues you want to hit the 40-point mark and then you know you are in the mix until the end.

“We need to continue to work our socks off and give ourselves a chance.”

Meanwhile, Accies manager Stuart Taylor was gutted at the manner of the first-half performance.

He lamented: “In the first half we weren’t good enough.

“We go 3-0 down and the way we go and lose the three goals is against what we’re all about.

“It’s not good enough, it’s as simple as that.

“You set targets and you work hard in training all week.

“And it was disappointing to lose the goals in the manner that we lost them.

“And we gave ourselves an uphill battle.”
