HOW THEY PLAYED

- By Brian Fowlie

JOE HART (7)

Gave his fans a heart-in-the-mouth moment when closed down by O’Halloran. Comfortably dealt with a couple of long-range efforts.

TONY RALSTON (7)

Had a first half where he wasn’t able to make too much forward progress. Saints kept him occupied on the left and had to keep his concentration.

CAMERON CARTER-VICKERS (7)

Was solid in attacking the ball when Saints attacked. Saw more of the ball at his feet than he really wanted.

STEPHEN WELSH (6)

Not always comfortable taking the ball out from the back. (James McCarthy 78, 5. Brought experience as Celtic closed out the game).

JOSIP JURANOVIC (6)

Unable to bring an extra dimension to the left-hand side. A competent but understated performance.

DAVID TURNBULL (7)

As ever, gave a hugely committed performance but didn’t manage to come up with a moment of inspiration. (Imaila Soro 90, 5).

NIR BITTON (7)

Always calm and cool on the ball, although Celtic could have done with a bit more dynamism at times.

CALLUM MCGREGOR (7)

Again showed there are few players who cover so many miles over the course of a season.

LIEL ABADA (6)

Always prepared to run but got little change from his opponents. (James Forrest 69, 8. Stuck away the chance that came his way.)

KYOGO FURUHASHI (7)

The striker was always looking for openings but didn’t relish aerial challenges. (Mikey Johnston 90, 5).

JOTA (8)

A “rabona’ cross”, where he sent the ball into the box by wrapping his kicking foot round his standing leg, was hugely entertaining. Set up Forrest’s goal. (Albian Ajeti 90, 5).

Unused subs — Bain (Gk), Scales, Urhoghide, Montgomery.
