Take care but let’s bring a little glamour to this year’s party season

- EDITOR, JAYNE SAVVA JSAVVA@DCTMEDIA.CO.UK

Iattended my first special occasion in over two years when I went to an awards do recently. It was also the first time in ages that I’ve slipped on a pair of high heels. After months of wearing slippers to the office (yes, we are still working from home) I felt like a little girl again, trying to walk in those toy plastic shoes that used to come with matching beads.

When I got out of bed the next morning my calf muscles had seized up and my toes looked like chipolatas. Still, it reminded me how fun it is to dress up once in a while – even if you have to sacrifice comfort for style.

There hasn’t been a huge amount to celebrate since the pandemic started but this festive season feels like a good place to start.

Of course, we are still being careful and testing is vitally important to keep Covid at bay, but Christmas party season is well and truly back. And for those venturing out to meet friends, family or colleagues it’s time to plan some fabulous outfits.

As always our style expert Wendy Rigg is on hand with trusted advice on what to wear – and how to wear it.Turn to pages 8&9 to find out how pairing one or two key pieces with your fashion favourites can add instant wow factor.

As ever it’s about buying less, but buying better so that sequin top or velvet skirt should last you many Christmases to come.

The thing to ask yourself is: does it bring you joy? If the answer is yes, then go for it. Lord knows, after last year’s washout Christmas I think we all deserve a little glamour in our lives, don’t you?
