Scotland man marking
Stuart Hogg
What an attacker he is. Provided the impetus in the first half and was so influential thereafter. Still a doubt defensively, but an utter thrill to watch. 8
Fraser Brown
Looked like he was neck-rolled early on, but shrugged it off to produce another display which must put him into contention for a Lions place. 7
Tim Visser
Supposedly the Scottish weakness in defence but it was his tackle on Webb in the corner that essentially killed the Welsh resistance. And the try. 8
Zander Fagerson
He is only 21 and has had so much to shoulder because of injuries. But he has done so with aplomb. The Scottish find of the campaign. 7
Huw Jones
Hauled down by Tipuric, and the angle he took in the decoy run for the Seymour try might have been on the edge, but it was inspired. 7
Richie Gray
Put in a tremendous shift, as always. Disrupted the Welsh line-out early on and was increasingly influential in the tackle as the match went on. 7
Alex Dunbar
Warren Gatland was watching with his Lions hat on and he must appreciate how good this crop of Tartan centres are. Not a good up and under, though. 7
Jonny Gray
With his brother in tandem, he ensures that the Scottish engine room functions with increasing power. Did not take any backwards steps. 7
Tommy Seymour
Took his try wonderfully, which capped off a performance in which the Scottish backthree outshone their counterparts. A big chance for the Lions. 7
John Barclay (c)
The captain in a famous win. He was anonymous in the first half in which he was temporarily off with a blood injury but was a rock afterwards. 7
Finn Russell
A man-of-thematch display. Kicked seven out of seven – but made up for captain Laidlaw’s absence in more areas than simply that. 9
John Hardie
Struggled in the face of a brilliant Welsh back-row performance in the first half and his replacement, Hamish Watson, was immense. 6
Alistair Price
Looked slow to distribute the ball in the first half, but was transformed in the second. His cover tackle on Jonathan Davies was a thing of beauty. 7
Ryan Wilson
Maybe he is not a natural No 8, but nobody can fault his commitment or, indeed, impact. The home backrow was outplayed in the first half. Second half: different story. 6
Gordon Reid
Great work in the ruck early on to poach the ball and was part of a Scottish scrum which did not live up to its go-backwards reputation. 7
Replacements
Watson and Allan Dell gave the Dark Blues a little more threat with ball in hand while Henry Pyrgos’ introduction gave Scotland the steady hand they required as they closed out the win.
