Rules of engagement

‹Horseball originated in the 1970s in France, and draws on polo, rugby and basketball. It is one of 10 disciplines recognised by the International Federation of Equine Sports.

‹A team of four players make at least three passes between three different players and then score through a 3.5 metre-high net one metre in diameter.

‹A team defend by pushing their opponents out of the playing area using a horse’s weight or by getting alongside and tackling the ‹When the ball falls to the ground, anyone can pick it up, as long as they are travelling in the same direction as play was when it was dropped.
