Cricket

West Indies beat Afghanista­n by six wickets in the first T20 internatio­nal at Basseterre. The hosts won with 21 balls to spare, with Marlon Samuels (35) and Evin Lewis (26) flourishin­g. The tourists won the toss in St Kitts and chose to bat but could post only 110, after slipping to 58 for eight.

Boxing

David Haye has split from his trainer Shane McGuigan. The 36-year-old fighter, recovering from an Achilles tendon injury suffered in his bout against Tony Bellew in March, announced the separation on his Facebook page. Haye wrote: “Shane and I have come to the mutual decision that when I am ready to go back into full training, we will no longer be working together as boxer and coach. We remain good friends.”

Canoeing

Britain’s Kimberley Woods won her second gold medal in two days to become European champion in the women’s canoe single (C1) for the second time. She won C1 team gold on Friday at the four-day event in Tacen, Slovenia.

Diving

Tonia Couch and Lois Toulson won gold in the women’s 10-metre synchronis­ed diving at the British Championsh­ips in Edinburgh. City of Leeds diver Toulson and Couch, of Plymouth Diving, used their high-level experience to top the podium with a total of 307.26 points, with Southampto­n Diving pair Tanya Watson and Lucy Hawkins taking silver with a score of 256.74.

Rugby League

Hull ended their three-game losing streak in emphatic fashion with a 39-26 win over Wigan at the KCOM Stadium. The Airlie Birds ran in six tries through Steve Michaels (two), Mark Minichiell­o, Danny Houghton, Jamie Shaul and Albert Kelly. Wigan also crossed six times through Tom Davies (two), Liam Marshall (two), Lewis Tierney and Joe Burgess, but Jake Connor’s kicking, with five goals, was the difference for Hull.
