Fiji claimed a place at the 2019 Rugby World Cup when they beat Tonga 14-10 yesterday. Fiji, who are the second qualifier after the United States, now join Australia, Wales, Georgia and a qualifier from the Americas – either Canada or Uruguay – in Pool D as the Oceania No1 qualifier.

A hat-trick of tries by Joe Burgess helped Wigan Warriors to a comfortable 32-10 Super League victory in Perpignan. George Williams and Sam Tomkins also crossed for the visitors who moved above St Helens to sixth in the table. Wigan coach Shaun Wane missed the game because he underwent hip surgery yesterday.
