ON MY PLATE

What’s cooking in Angela’s world this week

-

I’ve been really busy lately with the launch of our third Café Murano on Bermondsey Street in London, which will open at the end of November. We’re working on tastings for new dishes, but there’ll definitely be lots of old favourites, like chicken Milanese and osso buco risotto, for instance. It’s a sister restaurant to Café Murano in Covent Garden and St James. cafemurano.co.uk

I’m looking forward to catching up on Rick Stein’s new BBC Two show Rick Stein’s Secret France, which started this week. His programmes are always really interesting because he knows all about the history and the regions so well, and brings so much more into the conversation other than just the food. Episode two airs this Tuesday at 9pm.

Next weekend, I’ll be at Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall’s River Cottage farm in Devon, celebrating its 20th birthday. I’ll be preparing a sevencourse feast along with Lime Wood’s Hartnett Holder & Co head chef Luke Holder, my husband Neil Borthwick (head chef at The French House) and Emily Brightman, our head chef at Murano and Café Murano. His dining events and feasts in the barn, the farmhouse and the yurt are always great fun. rivercottage.net

I can’t wait to visit chef Richard Corrigan’s new Irish pub and restaurant, Daffodil Mulligan. It’s on Old Street, near where we live in Spitalfields, so perhaps I’ll get the chance to go with my friend Sandra Esquilant, our local landlady at The Golden Heart, for some of his Irish stew… corrigancollection.com
