PRUNING WISTERIA
This flummoxes many gardeners. Just remember the foot and finger rule: prune back to a finger in February/March (leaving a couple of buds) and a foot in July (leaving 4-6 buds/leaves).
Nigel Colborn revisited his old house where he had carefully pruned and nurtured his wisteria for years and was relieved to see it blooming prolifically. “What pruning regime do you use?” he asked the new owners: “Oh, we just snap a bit off every time we pass,” was the reply.
Maybe we tend to overthink it.
