BLACK KNIT ROMPER

£149 from a cashmere hoodie to a dress with drawstring waist. There’s even a belted (knitted) jumpsuit. Labeca’s tank tops would work nicely as a layer under a cotton shirt, and of course there’s the hero of lockdown, the cashmere tracksuit. Just enough variety, and just the right tones. Nothing too loud.

The brand’s ethos is “journey in style, lounge in comfort”. It was intended for the discerning traveller, but since very few can do that right now, its newfound place is in the wardrobes of those who see (knitwear) luxuries as a treat. A dose of stylish escapism but mostly a key component of a new relaxed, yet considered, era of dressing.

“Comfort can make all the difference, especially when working from home,” says Lara. “Yet women want to stay stylish, and maintain a professionalism… Our loungewear sets offer just that, and the jackets are light enough to wear inside so they are even more appropriate right now.” A jacket you can Zoom in at home and, in time, zoom to work in.

Where I really admire Labeca is when I ask Lara about the use of some materials in a few of the fabric compositions I researched: “As an emerging company, we keep an open mind in expanding our knowledge in ways to increase our sustainability and reduce our environmental impact.” I respect that they even acknowledged my querying of it. (It is not always a question some brands are willing to address.) Lara continues: “We are investing time in learning more about eco-friendly fabrics… and we plan to bring in pieces made from 100 per cent cotton in our new collection.”

We all have room for improvement. Right now, if you’re striving to improve your own wardrobe, try searching L-ab-e-c-a.
