Search for three workers as Didcot site is cleared

Work has begun to clear the collapsed Didcot power station site, as three workmen remain missing. Owner and energy giant RWE predicted a “long and careful” operation.

The police and the Health and Safety Executive are monitoring progress at the plant in Oxfordshir­e. Demolition workers Ken Cresswell, 57, and John Shaw, 61, from Rotherham, South Yorks, and Chris Huxtable, of Swansea, are still missing after the collapse on Feb 23. A funeral has been held for Mick Collings, 53, of Brotton, Cleveland. The HSE said the priority is to recover the three missing men so that they could be returned to families.
