Don’t force-feed everyone maths

-

Bizarrely, the Budget was chosen as the place to announce that all pupils in schools would be made to study maths to the age of 18. This either means the GCSE maths is so pitiful in standard that it should be scrapped, or that the Government has no idea about the realities of rounded education.

If one intends to study science at university then maths is invaluable: it is dispensable for anyone wishing to study humanities. Why should a gifted linguist be prevented from learning a new language because of an obsession with forcing him or her to study maths? It is absurd.
