Thieves cart off 127 trees from couple’s garden

-

Scores of trees planted by a couple to blot out road noise have been uprooted and carted away in an overnight raid.

Peter and Julie Vine spent £1,300 on 127 trees for their garden which backs on to the A227 in Wrotham, Kent. But they woke up on Friday to the roar of traffic. The theft was “bizarre”, said Mr Vine, 57. “You’ve got to pull them out, load them on to the back of something, and I have to ask, what is the point?”
