Cutlery eater goes under the knife

Stunned surgeons in India have removed 40 metal knives from the stomach of a patient who had an “uncontrollable urge” to eat the cutlery.

The 42-year-old patient had emergency surgery in Gurdaspur, a city in the north Indian state of Punjab, after he complained of abdominal pain and weakness. After a five-hour operation, the patient was successfully treated.
