Taliban fighters capture district
The Taliban yesterday seized a key district in Afghanistan’s north-eastern Kunduz province.
Its fighters overran Khan Abad, about 18 miles east of Kunduz city.
Hundreds of residents were said to have fled the district amid the fighting. Security forces, who claimed calls for reinforcements were ignored, said they were battling to regain control.
