YouTube workshops to tackle hate speech

-

YouTube is launching workshops for teenagers to promote internet safety that will include how to tackle hate speech and fake news.

The Google-owned video streaming site will run the workshops, called Internet Citizens, for people aged 16 to 18 in cities across the UK as part of their Creators for Change programme and will raise awareness around issues such as tolerance, empathy and abuse online.

Last month, Google and YouTube were criticised by the Government over hate speech after taxpayerfunded adverts were found to have been placed alongside extremist content on the video site.
