A place of one’s own

SIR – Many younger people are unable to purchase their own properties due to their inability to raise a deposit. This has left a generation feeling alienated by the Government. They aspire to be home owners, but are shackled by sky-high rents.

Surely, the £24billion spent on housing benefit would be better invested in schemes encouraging more to buy rather than rent. Paul Caruana
