Europe’s voice of unreason
The sheer unreason of the EU’s method of “negotiating” over Brexit is apparent from its rejecting as “insufficient” Mrs May’s utterly realistic offer to allow three million EU citizens to stay here with full rights, in return for similar treatment for the million British living in Europe.
Clearly nothing will suffice, short of the EU maintaining control of British borders. Does, for example, the German car industry – one in five of whose products is sold here – understand what failing to do a civilised deal will mean to its tariff-free domination of our vehicles market? Trying to make Britain grovel will backfire on Europe spectacularly.
