The fierce but fair Alex Polizzi returns with another series of her fly-on-thewall show. The opening episode is something of a gem focusing on old friends John Sinclair and Rob Swires, who opened a Peaky Blinders- themed bar in Southport. But John, it transpires, is a man of big dreams. He’s decided to buy out the space above the bar and turn it into accommodation. Have John, Rob and John’s formidable, no-nonsense wife Mel bitten off far more than they can chew? That seems to be the case when Polizzi arrives but as the episode continues so a more complicated, and quite emotional, picture is unveiled. By the end of it you’ll be rooting with Polizzi for them all to succeed. Sarah Hughes
Hokusai: Old Man Crazy to Paint BBC FOUR, 9.00PM
The best documentaries always force you to see a subject afresh. That’s certainly the case with this intelligent take on the great Japanese artist Katsushika Hokusai, best known for The Great Wave. David Hockney contributes, but ultimately it’s the work that enthrals. SH
