Kit­tens sur­vive 311 miles hid­den un­der car bon­net

Three kit­tens sur­vived a 311-mile trip stowed un­der a car bon­net af­ter hitch­ing a ride from the Nether­lands.

Chris­tian Lamp­kin and his fam­ily were to­tally un­aware the six-week-old cats had climbed aboard. The fam­ily had been stay­ing at a hol­i­day park in Eind­hoven, the Nether­lands, and left their car un­used.

Two days af­ter ar­riv­ing home, Mr Lamp­kin heard me­ow­ing and looked un­der the bon­net where he found the kit­tens.

The an­i­mals – named Edam, Gouda and Tulip – were handed to the Diana Brim­ble­combe An­i­mal Res­cue Cen­tre in Read­ing, Berks.

They have now been placed in quar­an­tine.
