Private Passions: Chris Hadfield RADIO 3, 12.00NOON

This week’s guest on Private Passions is astronaut Chris Hadfield, the first Canadian to walk in space and former commander of the International Space Station. He’s best known, however, for his musical contributions to zero gravity: he took a guitar on missions and recorded the first song in space, and his version of David Bowie’s Space Oddity, performed while orbiting Earth, became a viral sensation. He selects music by Strauss, Rossini and Hans Zimmer, as well as – what else? – Holst’s Planets Suite.
