THE Duke and Duchess of Sussex were guests of honour at the wedding of Prince Harry’s close friend Charlie van Straubenzee and filmmaker Daisy Jenks yesterday.
The duchess, who was celebrating her 37th birthday, wore a navy shirt dress by fashion brand Club Monaco, a fascinator by Philip Treacy and pumps by Aquazzura.
The duke, who was his schoolfriend Mr van Straubenzee’s best man, and his wife arrived separately at St Mary the Virgin church in Frensham, Surrey.
The duke looked relaxed in black sunglasses and a morning suit, and the duchess seemed in good spirits when arriving with other guests.
She waved to well-wishers and could be seen chatting to the sister of the bride, Kitty Jenks, before she entered the church. The bride arrived in a vintage car shortly before 3.30pm.
Mr van Straubenzee, 30, who works for investment management firm Brown Advisory, was an usher at the duke and duchess’s wedding in May and gave a speech at their reception. Ms Jenks, 27, runs a film-making company with her sister.
Other guests at the wedding included Princess Eugenie, her fiance Jack Brooksbank Westminster.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, who are on a family holiday, did not attend. The groom’s brother, Thomas van Straubenzee, is a close friend of Prince William and godfather to Princess Charlotte.
There had been rumours and the Duke of that Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall would be present but they were not spotted among the guests.
After the wedding, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, pictured left, waved and smiled to the crowds while holding hands. The newlywed couple posed for photographs after the wedding ceremony before the smiling groom pedalled his bride away on a traditional Indian rickshaw.
