Classy sports doc of the highest calibre about Michael Jordan (right). t). It provides wonderful insight into the ultra- - driven Chicago Bulls genius but also tells a wider story about race, ce, power, ego, money and nd America. Netflix
Sunderland ’Til I Die
The second season of the fly-on-thewall series has made a breakout star of former Telegraph journalist Charlie Methven, who has helped take over the League One club and faces the not-inconsiderable task of reversing some deeply odd business decisions. These behind-the-scenes docs arguably work better with clubs a little further down the pyramid: plenty of ego, a bit less polish than the Manchester Man City-sanctioned, City-sanction over-sanitised equivalent. equ Netflix
Drive To Survive Sur
Dorky title but excellent doc series about Formula One with very good access. The second season, which came out in February, gives an in-depth account of the 2019 championship, with a power struggle between Sebastian Vettel and Charles Charle Leclerc standing out. Netflix
Killer Inside: The Mind of Aaron Hernandez
Genuinely jaw-dropping account of how the late Hernandez (below) managed to play American football for the New England Patriots, and reach the Super Bowl in 2012, while leading a seemingly double life as a killer and drug user. He was convicted of murder, is suspected of involvement in other violence, and took his own life in prison. He tested positive post-mortem for CTE. Netflix
Andy Murray: Resurfacing
Moving, revealing and impressive documentary about Sir Andy Murray. He talks about the people and events that have shaped him, from hiding in the headmaster’s room at Dunblane Primary School during the massacre in 1996, all the way up to his present-day struggles with injury Amazon and comeback. Last Chance U
In terms of other streaming sports doc series, this is something of a veteran: it features the ups and downs of a group of American football players at East Mississippi Community College. All are from tough backgrounds, or have been in trouble, or are struggling with their mandated academic studies and know that their sporting dreams are hanging by a thread. Coach Buddy Stephens is the star: very Christian, very cross. Netflix
