Tiverton enjoy big win against champions

- By RICHARD HUGHES

»»TIVERTON Twn have four games left to see off relegation after a win on Saturday that turned the Southern League Premier Division South table more or less upside down.

Tiverton beat champions Chesham United 2-0 to climb out of the relegation zone – and tonight they are at home against Dorchester Town, before another home game against Winchester City on Thursday.

Tiverton’s penultimate game is at Harrow Borough on Saturday, before their final game of the season at home against Sholing on Saturday, April 27.

Tiverton have at least one game in hand over everyone below them, apart from Plymouth Parkway, who are one point adrift, and have played two games less.

So it is essential that Leigh Robinson’s team pick up more points from Dorchester and Winchester, before the last two games over the last two weekends.

Alfie Moulden and Jack Rice scored the goals against Chesham to give their team a real chance of saving their Premier South status.

Below them, in Division One South, Willand Rovers are making heavy weather of the end of their season.

Willand were beaten 1-0 by title challengers Wimborne Town on Saturday, and now have two games left, away at Evesham United on Saturday, and at home against Malvern Town on the final Saturday, April 27.

But, having started the season so well and being top in the first months, Willand are well clear of the drop zone, so David Steele’s team will be around again to give it another go in the Division One South next season.
