-

Railway workers in Los Angeles have stumbled across a 10,000-year-old fossil that scientists believe belonged to a giant sloth. The hip bone was buried five metres below the Earth’s surface. Scientists say that this species of sloth, called the Harlan’s Ground Sloth, was more than three metres long and weighed 680 kilograms.
