The world’s biggest coding school
Since the launch of the first Raspberry Pi in 2012, more than 12.5 million of the cheap computers have been bought, helping millions of young people get their first experience of programming.
Now its inventors are setting their sights even higher, teaming up with a company called CoderDojo to spread coding clubs for young people aged seven to 17. The creators want to have 5,000 clubs running by 2020, giving many more children their first taste of programming – whether they’re using a Raspberry Pi or other products.
CoderDojo has already shown off some ace Pi-powered projects at its Coolest Projects event, which takes place once a year in Dublin. From robots to a remote-controlled hovercraft, CoderDojo has sparked some really creative ideas. Perhaps your school will be next to set up a club and get inventing.
