Vote opens for UK’s top tree
The Woodland Trust has revealed the trees that are on the shortlist to win Tree of the Year 2017. The public can vote for their favourite tree in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Nominations include a Perthshire spruce, which was pulled from the muddy warzone by a soldier at the Battle of Passchendaele, in Belgium in 1917, and sent to his father in Perthshire.
