Girl pulls “Excalibur” from lake
When people go for a paddle in the water, they often find colourful shells, pretty pebbles or mounds of slimy seaweed. Taking a dip in Cornwall’s Dozmary Pool, however, recently proved to be a never-to-be-forgotten experience for sevenyear-old Matilda Jones, from Yorkshire, when she pulled a 1.2 metre-long sword from the lake. This may not be just any ordinary sword, though; legend has it that King Arthur’s famous sword, Excalibur, was thrown into Dozmary
Pool centuries ago. What do you think – did Matilda really recover King Arthur’s sword or could there be another explanation for this mysterious find?*
