Nintendo’s new retro games console

-

Imagine carrying around Mario Kart and The Legend of Zelda on a games console that’s small enough to put in your bag. For once, we’re not talking about the Nintendo Switch.

This week saw the release of Nintendo’s Classic Mini SNES, which is a brand-new version of a console that originally came out in the UK in 1992.

It comes with 21 preloaded games, including the very first Mario Kart, Super Mario World and The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, along with other famous games of the 1990s.

Two controllers designed to look like the original gamepads are thrown in, too, for playing against a friend – or, we suspect, against a parent who’s more excited about these old games than you are.

The modern versions of these games are bigger and better, but it can be interesting to see how they originally started out.
