Dame Vera Lynn, the Forces’ sweetheart, whose image was projected onto the white cliffs of Dover to mark her 100th birthday. The 350ft image also celebrated the release of her new album, Vera Lynn 100. Her best-known song, from 1942, refers to “bluebirds” – RAF pilots – flying over the white cliffs of Dover.
