Laptop ban on flights
Airline passengers travelling on direct flights to the UK from six Middle Eastern and north African countries have been banned from carrying laptops, and other large electronic devices, on planes in their hand luggage, because of security fears. Instead, travellers from Turkey, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia and Tunisia will have to put their laptops, tablets, e-readers and large smartphones in the hold. The ban has been imposed in response to intelligence advice that bombs could be hidden in devices. The US has just introduced a similar ban.
