“Blasphemy” murder:

Police have arrested 22 people for the mob lynching last week of a student at a university in Mardan, northwestern Pakistan, who was deemed to have made “blasphemous” comments on social media. Mashal Khan (above), a journalism student known for his left-wing, secular views, was beaten to death by his fellow students. Mobile phone footage of the horrific crime has led to widespread condemnation. But it took two days for the country’s prime minister, Nawaz Sharif, to speak out.
