Restaurant attack:

-

At least 19 people were killed last week when al-shabaab militants stormed a restaurant popular with foreigners in Mogadishu, the Somali capital. The attack began last Wednesday evening, with the detonation of a powerful car bomb outside the Pizza House restaurant; gunmen then rushed into the building, killing diners and staff, and occupied it. Troops finally secured the site shortly before dawn the next day. After being elected president in February, Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed “declared war” on al-shabaab, vowing to eliminate the group within two years, and restore stability to Somalia. Al-shabaab – the deadliest terrorist group in Africa – in turn promised to step up its campaign.
